Bladder inflammation eased by green tea
Inflamed bladder cells can be protected by the use of green tea. In a University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine study, green tea components were found to protect bladder cells from damage in a culture. This could very well be possible because of the antioxidants found in green tea. These antioxidants make green tea a viable remedy for many types of medical conditions and health problems. The catechins in green tea contain many antioxidative properties of nature. Normal and cancerous bladder cells were found to have been protected with the use of green tea. Herbal supplements in the future may provide a gateway to green tea drugs that may act against bladder damage. The study found that when normal and cancerous bladder cells were exposed to EGCG of green tea, the cell lines were protected from hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide would normally kill the bladder cells. EGCG can be carried in the body from a daily intake of green tea.
