Lately there has been a lot of buzz about the flu, due to the scare of the swine flu, or H1N1. Some of the best ways to prepare for this or any other kind of flu season is to arm your body with the highest level of immune system function. Green tea leaves contain antioxidants that can help to boost your immune system. The Journal of the American College of Nutrition published a study that showed that people taking a special preparation of green tea as a capsule experienced 23% less instances of colds and flu. Their immune systems also produced more cells that were able to battle those flu-causing bacteria and viruses.

So, around flu and cold season, try and have a few cups of green tea every day. I keep some at work, so that I can make myself a few nice warm mugs of tea throughout the day. It also gives me a good reason to get up and stretch my legs!
