Green Tea Relief For Asthma

There is a lot of information lately that is being released by researchers that suggests the regular consumption of green tea could be used in relieving bronchial asthma and difficulty in breathing due to the smooth muscle relaxant effect of caffeine. Tea polyphenols strengthen the walls of blood vessels and regulate their permeability, reducing the occurrence and the severity of attacks.

Theophylline, a chemical found in both green and black tea, is extracted from the leaf of the tea plant. Theophylline relaxes the smooth muscles supporting the bronchial tubes, reducing the severity of asthma and bronchitis. Drinking either green or black tea provides theophylline in doses large enough to affect asthma.
