Forget about sunscreen, what about green tea?
There is another benefit of green tea to add to the list! A green tea diet can actually help prevent skin cancer among other types of cancer. A researcher from UAB (The University of Alabama at Birmingham) named Santosh Katiyar, Ph.D has been studying the effects of green tea on the body, externally and internally. There is a claim that skin cancer can be prevented with daily green tea consumption. The polyphenols contain EGCG which can shield the skin from intense ultraviolet damage and tumor formation on the epidermis(fancy word for skin). Who knew that the polyphenols in green tea could actually stop skin damage. I wonder if it can stop sunburns. I’ll have to bring plenty of green tea the next time I go to the beach.
