Green Tea For Healthy Gums

Scientists have discovered that among middle-aged Japanese, the odds of having gum disease declined as intake of green tea increased. For each daily cup they drank, the risk of having signs of gum disease, which includes receding, easily bleeding gums, was lowered, the researchers report in the Journal of Periodontology.

This doesn’t mean that green tea is a substitute for taking daily care of your teeth and taking regular trips to the dentist. If green tea can help prevent gum disease, it is likely because of its concentration of antioxidant compounds called polyphenols, according to the researchers.
