A massive research study in Japan, taking data from a over 40,000 participants, which links green tea with stress reduction was just published online in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Researchers from the Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine noted in the study that just under seven% of the research group (2,774 people) suffered from psychological stress. After the trial concluded, the scientists determined that drinking enough green tea improved the subject’s mental health and well-being.
Participants who drank five cups of green tea per day showed markedly less stress symptoms than the study participants who drank less than a cup a day. These results were calculated after making adjustments for variables such as age, diet, cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, and disease histories.
